The Credit Alligator Rawr!

Credit Alligator. It is the first time I hear such word combination which also makes it difficult to search for its meaning. Even the famous wikipedia doesn't have a brief definition of Credit Alligator.

According to my understanding, Credit Alligator occurs when certain people, especially the creative groups and talents are too sensitive on how their names will be presented on the credit screen. It is when they gave the second greatest contribution to a project and they will found out that their names will be on the very end of credit screen. Then they will ask to change it for them, the producers will apology, try to mend things on how the group wants it to be. This incidents eats a lot of added time and effort where in the production will need to add "changes" expenses on their budget.

In order to avoid this kinds of incidents discuss how the credit screen will be presented earlier. So that they can prevent last minute changes where it may cause farther problems.

This blog entry is dependent on the article of Tay Vaughan where in I read for numerous times.
This is an opinion on how I understand the article.

MULTIMEDIA ARTS

"Multimedia art is an innovative discipline which seeks to unify a large range of art forms. This creatively achieved by combining an array of artistic insights and crafts such as films, literature, performance, music, sound, drama, visual arts, or design. This merge of ideas and forms unveils a contemporary dimension or entity which attempts to engage an audience in a novel and unique way.

Multimedia art can be distinguished from mixed media art in which primarily blends traditional styles of visual art within a similar domain to make a one form of art or more dynamic. Multimedia art however involves a larger scope than mixed media and is considered to have no restrictions, such as the boundaries of a four  edges canvas board."

Why is it sooooooooo fascinating?

You can create your own cartoon/anime character
You can manipulate your display pictures in your varius social networking sites
You can create your own desktop background
You can design for anything and everything
You can also earn money at early age
You can work at your dream animation company

From capturing pictures to videos, then transferring it to your laptop, open with photshop/ illustrator, manipulate those pictures and videos, add some adjustments, a little bit of this, a little bit of that, save, post it in deviant art or in facebook or in youtube, and then you earn satisfaction. Who wouldn't love to become that type of artist.

If you are a multimedia artist you can be a creator of sooo many things in maaany different ways. There will be no limitations of what you can do (still knowing the do's and don'ts) if you know how things work. There is a whole wide field for us, a variety of digital media in addition to film, animation, video game development, video and traditional visual art where we can choose to work with.

There are so many beautiful things when you are a multimedia artist, and at the top of it is that you can do the things you most love in your very one way.

The Legendary Conqueror

Responsible Netizenship

Internet here, internet there, internet every where!

In a span of time something changed the ways, behavior and decorum of mankind. How we live, our daily routines, how we spend our leisure hours, how we bond, how we make friends, how we keep our values – everything in life were modified.

In 60 seconds there are:

695, 000+ status updates on Facebook
600+ new videos on Youtube
98,000+ tweets on Twitter
20,000+ new posts on Tumblr
694,445 search queries on Google
1,500+ blog posts
168 million sent emails and many more..

These are clear evidence how deep we are connected into the world of internet, how we can't live without updating a status or tweeting. But how this 'things' affects us, change us and mold us to something we aren't supposed to be?

Cyberbullying Statistics 2012-InfographicIn the internet everyone is considered free. We are free to see this, free to hear that, free to have this, free to know that and free to do this and that. Until man became abusive, we make use of this freedom to step on others freedom. Man learned to use the internet to bully, bash, fool other people or as we know cyber-bullying, some also make use of it illegally for human trafficking like cyber-sex, and also identity theft just like posers. These are the top issues we are now experiencing in the world of internet. This is because of the number people who are narrow-minded-selfish-sadist-netizens who pleasures themselves in mistreating others.

Last August 4 2013, newly-elected Senator Nancy Binay proposed a bill regarding criminalizing humorous internet memes.  She said, "It aims to amend ( the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act. Thus, a previous or current relationship between parties a must." This a bill regarding the on the unauthorized usage of name, identity, or pictures that will put someone in bad impression or injure the victims reputation. This aims to protect people who suffers from this kind of cyber-bullying.

Mattie Ross once said, "You must pay for everything in this world one way or another. There is nothing free, except the grace of God." It is true, everything will always have its consequences. How we make use of the internet will surely define who we are.

The internet will always be a mirror from what kind of person are we. That is why we need to be responsible enough in using the internet. Though we are in the modern days we still have to remember the things our parents and grandparents thought us. Our values, morals, etiquette and our decorum should always be observed when we are  in front of the computer. Do not do unto others what you do not want others do unto you.

Netiquette /neɛ́t-ə-kət/, Noun: 1. The social code of network communication. 2. The social and moral code of the internet based on human condition and Golden rule of Netiquette. 3.  A philosophy of effective internet communication that utilizes common conventions and norms as a guide for rules and standards.

In order to avoid becoming a cyberbully, here is a pledge we have to follow:

The Netizenship Pledge

1. Netizens understand that rights are always balanced with responsibilities.
2. Netizens have the right to be respected and the responsibility to respect others, in person and online.
3. Netizens will think before we click.
4. Netizens understand that just because we can, doesn’t mean that we should.
5. Netizens will ask for, or receive permission before using the creative work of others and will give credit for and cite this work appropriately when we use it.
6. Netizens will exercise patience and realize that others may not have the same access to and use of the same Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and connectivity as they do.
7. Netizens understand that virtual actions have real consequences for ourselves and for others.
8. Netizens understand that what I/we say and do online can’t be taken back.
9. Netizens promise to use ICTs for the betterment of our world.
10. Netizens promise to use this Netizenship Pledge to guide our actions in person and online.

Traditional and New Media

Mass media is those means of communication that inform, persuade and entertain large numbers of people especially newspapers, magazines, radio and television. It is considered as the fourth estate of the society as well. It is the fourth branch of the government. The  voice and weapon of the people and the society as a whole. Mass media is a double-edged sword which means that there are positive as well as negative influence of media.

Traditional Media

Traditional media refers to the old and usually archaic way of disseminating information involving only one way of communication. It may also refer to the media used before the  advent of technological advances like televisions, radios, magazines, comics, books and other print publications.

New Media

New media refers to on-demand access to content any time, anywhere, on any digital device, as well as interactive user feedback, creative participation. Another aspect of new media is the real-time generation of new, unregulated content. Most technologies described as "new media" are digital, often having characteristics of being manipulated, networkable, dense, compressible, and interactive.

Traditional vs Modern; Old vs New

They always say that what's new and modern is always better compared to the old and traditional ones. But no matter what kind of media it is, media will always have its advantages and disadvantages.

In the traditional era, people then are more sociable, they are outgoing. They spend most of the time outside their house where they gain experiences they can never have if they are inside. They know how to face other people and got to enhance their skills in communicating in different ways. Their speech were heighten due to direct conversations. Their writing skills are sublime even their hand written are done delicately. I also believe that people back then are really healthy. They were able to move those muscles in playing instead of staying inside their houses where they all do is watch televisions, play video games and surf the internet, just like these days.

Also before the modern media, the information one can attain is very limited. People only depends on the what the televisions, radios and magazines give them. But on the lighter side of this, the information we can acquire are concise and reliable (set aside those media that are being influenced by people with power).

For the disadvantages of the traditional media, not every one can voice out and share their thoughts and opinions publicly. And even if they can it is just to expensive for them to make an tv advertisement, to broadcast on the radio or to publish a book.

We can now say that our world has improved a lot in many aspects, and that includes our technology and our media. Now we have computers, laptops, smartphones, tablets and such where we can access internet, social sites, e-mails, blogs, video blogs and others. This is the new media, where all sorts of information could be achieve in a click.

New media helped so many lives for so many times including me. From doing our assignments, finding answers to our questions, communication, and  even for entertainment  internet has always been there for us. Everything is easy if you have an internet connection, it's cheap, effortless, undemanding, it's everything but not hundred percent reliable. It is too convenient for others to use that they take advantage of it to deceive other people. Internet is too outstretched that no one can take a grip of it now, no one can control the informations that are spreading into it.

Another thing is that because of this new gadgets, people especially the kids and teens tend to stay at home. Socializing for them is not that important anymore as long as they have the internet. Their muscles are feeble because it's their eyes and hands are the only parts that are working even when they are playing. People also at the young age are exposed to themes that are not suitable for their ages.

Though we have this numerous disadvantages in using new media we cannot deny that there are still good reasons in using the it. And yes, I am taking this side. We can say that everything in new media has already a part in our life.

We can never change or avoid what we have now in the present. Everything only depends on how we are going to use these media to communicate, to help and to share. Too much is always harmful for us, and for our being, that is why we must know how our limitations.
